Feminism and mothering are intertwined with working for human rights. How many people realize that mothers are on the front line of so many different causes, like those standing up to the military junta in Argentina, or the Hispanic and African American mothers working for environmental justice even before the country recognized the pollution issue. Mothering has so many different interpretations, including those women who have become mothers of children who are neither related nor adopted but are in need of nurturing and help. There is also the hidden strength of mothers who are dealing with the problems of their adult children, illnesses of all kinds, regime change, and their children returning home because they have become jobless. Women hold the world together.
